ABOUT Don Rice Jr.

Don Rice Jr. is a former U. S. Marine, a widower, a father and a grandfather. He's been a dishwasher, a cook, a janitor, a store clerk and manager, a baker's assistant, an apartment complex manager, a sheet metal worker and a Union steward.

He's written poetry, newspaper and magazine articles, and blogs, and has finished a short story, "At First Sight: A Strange But True Love Story", that is available on Amazon, as well as his first novel, "Child Protection: A Novel of Deception" He is currently working on two more short stories and two more novels, one of which is a sequel to "Child Protection".

"Child Protection" is truly a Deception. He's been through the CPS system and beat it, although it took three years to get his son returned to his custody. In the process of doing so, he and his mutually adopted brother began a chapter of V.O.C.A.L., Victims Of Child Abuse Laws, to teach other parents how to fight the system and win. What he learned in that three years and since guided him in writing this book.

He didn't want to write a tell-all totally factual book; he says that there are plenty of those out there that relatively few people read. He wanted to write it as a novel, to tell a story, because that is how the best lessons are learned, through stories. That way, more people can be reached, and more eyes can be opened to the reality of the corruption. And he wanted to write a story that he would want to read himself, complete with the human interactions, the love, the hate, the anger, as much as he felt he could comfortably fit into the story.

He likes a variety of ethnic foods, from southern "down home" to Jamaican, Asian and Hispanic cuisine. He's had two wives, both of whom he loved very much, and both of whom have died of natural causes. He has vowed to never marry again, but is available for a long-term relationship that does not include formal marriage.

He now lives in the State of Washington, but plans to divide his time between there and Arizona, where it doesn't really get cold, as snow and ice seem to have declared war against him. He won his battle against CPS, and he vows to win the war against winter weather too.
